Item Description

This is an opulent and extremely rare antique French wine or water decanter that originates from the Napoleon III period in the 19th century. Discovered recently this magnificent treasure is made of hand blown glass in the most exquisite carmine red colour placed in an elaborate and highly detailed frame made of pewter. It is created with great artistry and craftsmanship in the Renaissance style with "le grottesche" or fantastic and curious creatures and masks such as mermaids, angels, lions etc. This is a truly mesmerising treasure that is highly decorative, and it is likely to impress your guests during a dinner party. The decanter also contains the matching stopper that is just amazing work of art on its own. Together it measures about 32 x 18 x 16 cm or approximately 12.5 x 7 x 6.2 inches and it is in great antique condition with minor signs of ageing that is expected of period items. It is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
