Item Description
This is remarkable collection of six portrait paintings depicting three generation of a German noble family 'Grossherzöge von Zweibrücken', all created in the same year in 1796 by the artist G. P. Mayer. All the paintings are signed and dated on the back of each canvas. These are oil on canvas paintings that are still on their original wood stretchers measuring about 41 x 31.5 cm or approximately 16.1 x 12.4 inches. They were discovered recently in Rome, Italy, and represent truly an interior designer's dream as they could be displayed in so many playful ways as well as bring a "gallery feel" to any interior, classical or contemporary. They are exactly as I discovered them - in a slightly timeworn condition - which in my opinion only brings forth their true beauty and splendour today. For the full condition please refer to the images!
