An antique Victorian carved oak panel of coat of arms.
Emphasised by the handsome dark finish, the handcarved twin headed eagle is a unique design evoking Victorian style and artistic craftsmanship.
The bird depicted is the double-headed Reichsadler, or eagle, found in the coats of arms of many German cities and aristocratic families in the early modern period.
Dating to circa 1860, this panel has a handsome time worn look showcasing an abundance of charm. You can just imagine taking pride of place in any period property as a decorative wall panel or perhaps a table top.
CONDITION REPORT
Good structural condition. Cut out on the back for a lock which is not present. Cut outs for hinges on the right. Formerly a cabinet door, corresponding cut out of where the lock was to the back.
