Item Description
A Breche Violette marble fireplace circa 1790 surround in the bolection style, dating from the late 18th century. Its large size indicates that it was likely once used in a main room, perhaps as a decorative marble fireplace surround in the drawing room of a large property. Sourced from a country house in Shropshire, this antique marble fireplace is creamy white in colour outlined with veins in purple shades, making for a striking design. Though this marble bolection fireplace has lived for more than 200 years and has a slightly discoloured, time-worn appearance and discreet historical repair to the top, it is in good condition. The marble showcases a beautiful patina, decorated with a moulded frieze and jambs. This design is simply timeless bringing elegance to both modern and traditional settings alike.
