Item Description

Perhaps mocking Prince George Frederick Augustus, first son of King George III, who would have been in his second year as Prince Regent at the time of this caricature.

Inscribed as a title band “The hopes of the family in his imperial go-cart”; his sword in one hand; rattle in the other, being followed by "2 aide de Camps with Crown, Pap Boat and other Company Articles”, “Charger", the child’s pull-a-long wooden horse, “Going to a Review escorted by a party of His Papa’s Troops”.

Inscribed lower right “Dawlish Dec. 3rd 1813”.

Executed in pen and ink with watercolour, within a period ebonized frame with gilded slip.
