Item Description
A stunning pair of large, early 18th century pine overdoors. Beautifully and boldly carved, each with a moulded pediment over scrolled capitals, with formal leaf swags of laurel leaves and berries united by a tied ribbon, the whole dry scraped back to reveal many layers of beautiful 18th century paint.
English Weald Hall Essex circa 1740
Provenance : Purchased at R C Knight & Sons, Norwich, 'Weald Hall, Brentwood, Essex, Sale of the Valuable Fixtures and Fittings', 1950, lot 100, thence by descent.
