Item Description
Antique French archtop mirror, circa 1880, with gently outcurving, beautifully etched, gilt frame decorated with a geometric design enclosing waterlilly (or lotus) flowers and beaded sight edge. The high cartouche has a central shell with open curling leaves and flowers each side and the gilders used some different colours of gold leaf to denote the different elements of the cartouche. The original glass has some age, mostly in the form of freckling, but still gives a very good reflection.
