Item Description
A lovely, early, French Louis-Philippe archtop mirror (1830-48) with a wide, gently curved, rich, gold frame decorated with a superb etching of flowers and leaves. On the outside edge of the frame there is a darker gilt looped design of crossing ribbons and on the sight edge a delicate, acanthus leaf pattern. There is just a very little thinning of the gilding after almost 200 years of dusting, and the warmth of the terracotta bole beneath the gold leaf enhances the etching. The original, mercury glass is in very good condition, sparkles along the base, and gives an excellent reflection.
