Item Description
A late 19th century solid walnut writing desk. The advantage to this elegant desk are the retractable leaves to either end allowing almost double the working surface when fully extended. The desk top and leaves have all retained the original tan leather which is in remarkable condition for its age and use, there are a small amount of tiny old surface marks gathered along the way but these simply add to its character and history. Below is a central drawer with a further two drawers to each side, each one displaying a neat brass trim. The five drawers all fit well and run smoothly. The original locks are all working with keys. Raised on four reeded walnut legs with original patinated brass tips. The back with faux drawers ideal for centre of any room. Good depth of colour with a richly polished surface. Circa 1890. Leaves extend further 27 cm each.
