19th Century Napoleonic Prisoner of War Folk art Corpus

 

A rare and unusual example of a 19th Century hand crafted Napoleonic folk art prisoner of war corpus Christi. Later added to a 19th Century red velour / pine supported base. The entire corpus is sections made from mutton/cow bone. With typical geometric shaped décor and hand carved trinkets including skull and bones, ladder, goblets, heart, sword, bow & arrow, and scroll.   

 

Size of inches approx.: H 16” x W 11” x D 3”

 

Completely solid in structure and form, with faded surfaces, missing trinkets, missing bone detail at the bottom of the cross, discolouring, loss trinkets, please bare into consideration that this item is made from natural cow or mutton bone and due to its age discolouring has taken place.
