Item Description
This is a pair of exquisite and extremely rare antique French vases that date from the mid 19th century. Just discovered in Avignon in the South of France this magnificent pair is created with masterful artistry, skillful craftsmanship and great attention to detail. The vases are made of hand painted terracotta in outstanding green and earth colour glaze depicting gorgeous fairies amongst blossoming vines. They are further embellished with bronze bases and truly amazing griffins [as the handles]. Each vase measures about 37.5 x 22 x 13 cm or approximately 14.7 x 8.6 x 5.1 inches. They are in great antique condition with minor signs of ageing seen in a few minute chips that are hardly noticable. These are the kind of ancient treasures that French certainly exceed above anyone else in their artistic creativity and skill. They are highly decorative and exactly as I discovered them.
